Members of the Wasaga Society for the Arts started on their path to Truth and Reconciliation by observing.Thats the theme of WSAs latest show at the Stonebridge Art Gallery, with GiGikendaan na, maanda, or Learning by Observation stanley bottles , a showing of Indigenous fine art and artifacts that opened Oct. 1.WSA board chairperson Steve Wallace said while it was not a formal Indigenous awareness training exercise, the board brought in an Indigenous artist to guide them through the a stanley taza rtwork as part of a larger exploration of Indigenous culture. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW It was our opportunity to learn more about the culture, to learn more about the experiences, and learn more about the art by presenting these really special pieces, Wallace said. It was a really good learning experience, and primarily it began through observation in the gallery. The show includes the work of other Indigenous artists, Frank Poulson, Richard Bedwash, Stephen Snake, Jay Bell Redbird, Ivan Shawana and Roy Thomas, as well as new and developing Indigenous artists from the community.
